Which country do you come from/call home?

Bucharest, Romania


Are you a backpacker/long term traveller/business traveller/live and work abroad?

I am currently a travel journalist from Romania. I travel almost every month in my country, but I always have time to explore 3-4 new places abroad each year.


How do you fund your travel (savings/work whilst travelling/other)?

I’ve got a full-time job in media.


What is the first trip you remember taking and how old were you?

That was to Odessa in Ukraine with my family. I remember this trip because it inspired me even at a young age to travel.


Have you been anywhere which turned out to be totally different to how you imagined? If so, how?

Yes, actually every time, in the case of traveling it is definitely not what you see is what you get“. I’m always surprised with people´s mentality, it’s always interesting getting to know people around the world.

Have you had any bad experiences whilst travelling?

I’ve had some bad travel experience, but it didn’t bother me much. Many problems arose over inadequate accommodation or bad food.


Do you have any funny travel stories?

Absolutely! I was in a village in Romania and spoke with an old woman. The woman told me a lot of jokes.

Which is the worst place you’ve been to and why?

Every destination has its charm. I did not have a destination that I did not like.


Where is your favourite place in the world?

I love Algarve, but I dream of travelling to Brazil.



Do you have a bucket list? If so what is on it?

In this year I will traveling to Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Malta, Bulgaria and Romania.


Can you imagine life without travel?

It’s impossible!


If you were not travelling what would you be doing instead?

I would be a dancer!

When did you begin your website Vacanțele lui Mircea?

In 2017 I will celebrate 3 years! I founded my travel blog in August 2014.

It is simple and practical!

What has been your most successful blog post to date and what was it about?

I have written exclusively about the opening of an underground hotel in the Republic of Moldova. It’s in the tourist complex of Branesti Winery called “Stone Age”, located in the village of Branesti in Orhei district. The whole complex is situated in an old limestone mine at a depth of 60 meters, which helps to maintain a constant temperature all year at the level of 12-14 degrees with a humidity of 90-92%. The complex the most visited tourist attraction in Moldova.


What has been your favourite article to write either for your blog or another publication?

My favorite articles are about the beaches from Greece.

    Ah, to be alive. Ditto here Mircea. I learned how to be alive, how to seize life by the horns, all through the miracle of traveling, seeing the world and embracing different cultures.
